I love traveling – I guess you’ve already realized that – but even though there are so many beautiful aspects about exploring the world, there are still one or two that can be a bit … annoying. The one that
makes made me fussy was the fact that I always looked like a monster when leaving the plane after an overseas flight. My make-up was always long gone and make-up debris were clogging my pores. It always felt like my skin wasn’t able to breath and the massier I looked the harder it was to get over the long flight tiredness despite sleeping like a baby half the flight. Even more tired of looking like crab after a several hours flight I started with my very simple overseas flight beauty routine which I now gonna share with you.
I always like my make-up to be very natural but going all make-up-less isn’t my style either. That was actually the core of my problem, the fact that I expect my make-up to look fresh all day even after a 8h flight, which simply doesn’t work (even though flight attendants magically make it work).
I remove all my make up as soon as possible after take-off and clear my skin with the 3-step cleansing products by Clinique (always using the sample products which you can bring in your carry-on language and don’t need that as much space as the travel version of the cleaning products) After clearing my skin carefully I only apply a rich face cream and leave it to that. It’s the same feeling like just before going to bed – fresh and clean – so I often sleep like a baby on overseas flights, which I couldn’t before.
Approximately half an hour before landing I make my way back to the lavatory and put on make up again so I look fresh when arriving at the next adventure. For my travel make-up I go for a very detoxed version of my beauty case and there are only 5-6 essential products I really need: 1. Mascara by Helena Rubinstein (using the same for over 4 years now and will never change it), 2. CC Cream by Chanel (absolutely love it’s light texture), 3. Concealer to hide my dark circles, 4. compact powder by Clinique to remove the shininess of my rather oily skin, 5. eyebrow brush by Bobby Brown one nuance darker than my hair color, 6. colored lip balm by Bobby Brown in color “Maui” (taste heavenly and looks lovely and natural). This is actually what I packed for my Vietnam adventure and this simple beauty routine for overseas flights saved me on our 16h journey from Vienna via Doha to Ho Chi Minh.
Another plus of removing make-up and cleaning your face during long flights beside the fact that your skin can breath is that it helps you staying awake for another few solid hours (after arrival) because you feel fresh and all new after applying some blush and fresh mascara before landing. And looking good never hurt nobody 🙂
Do you have a beauty routine for your travels? Or even specifically for overseas flights? Would love to hear your thoughts!
Love and Kisses from Vietnam, Theri
