Winter? Really? I haven’t even seen one single snow flake this year and temperature isn’t likely to drop at a normal level for that time of the year anytime soon. That’s why we are all in limbo wearing layered looks even though a simple jacket would be just fine. But habit’s are difficult to shed, so we keep on dressing like the calendar tells us to hoping for winter to come so we can parade our new winter parka and cozy jumper. Because of the constant early Autumn-alike weather I fished my beloved culottes by Whistles out of my closet and styled them for the colder season (whatever that may be).
Culottes in Winter? At first I wasn’t sure how to wear them but one day I saw a girl on the streets styling them with tights so she can wear them around that time of the year too. It looked great! So of course I had to try that style the second I came home and found out that tights are just perfect for this matter. But keep one thing in mind: the pants’ fabric and the tights’ have to “cooperate” otherwise the trouser leg will stick to your thigh the whole time and the wide legged glamor will be gone. That’s why I went for a very smooth fabric for the tights so this won’t happen with my silk culottes. But if you wanna wear your culottes in winter and you haven’t got the right tights at home try knee-high stockings – they definitely will do the job (if it isn’t too cold outside).
Regarding a jacket I went for a biker look, because I really like the edgy and rough style in combination with the feminin cut of my culottes. First I’ve thought about wearing a cozy knitted jumper but then it turned out that I only have oversized ones hanging in my closet. And if I like it or not I’m too small to go for oversized all over. But teamed up with a light cardigan and a simple cami-top and culottes makes a pretty decent outfit while waiting for the winter to come!
I really hope you like this outfit and tell me how you would wear culottes in winter?
