Arlberg. Is there a ski resort in the world that can really compete with the famous Arlberg? I don’t think so! I’ve spent every skiing holidays at Arlberg for 7 years and I believe that I know this region very well by now, which is why I want to share my 7 things to do at Arlberg with you.
#1 sleep at Hotel Arlmont
The last 7 years we have always spent our skiing holidays at Arlberg and always checked in at the SkiAcademy in St.Christoph – as a little reminder of our racing career which ended at the age of sixteen 🙂 It has always been nice, but we needed a change. This is why we decided to try a different hotel this time and booked at the Arlmont a brand new 4-star hotel in St.Anton. I didn’t expect much but the hotel was amazing. Great food und super nice staff. Moreover, I fell in love with the rooms. It’s puristic architecture with lots of decorative concrete, wood and glass are exactly how I would design a hotel room in the Alps. Also the SPA was nice – small but nice – and rumor has it that a (rooftop) pool is already in planning! So if you are looking for a good value for money hotel to stay – Arlmont is what you are looking for ♡

#2 ski the Weißer Ring
Weißer Ring is a must for everyone staying at Arlberg. It’s 21 kilometers of pure ski fun. Starting from wherever you want you gonna pass through all the beautiful villages that represent Vorarlbergs’ share of the Arlberg.
We usually start in Zürs making all our way up the mountain for a spectacular piste – with a breathtaking panorama – down to the valley passing by my favorite village at Arlberg – Zug. Then we normally head all the way up on the other side of the valley to end up sun seeking at Palmalp (see #4) followed by another great run down to famous Lech. But we haven’t crossed the finish line yet so we take the next gondola up another mountain and from the top down again all the way back to Zürs where we started. It is really fun skiing the Weißer Ring and gives one the opportunity to see almost every part of the Arlberg in one single day. One Tips: start early so you have slack time for coffee (#5) and a little detour to the little shops at Lech.

#3 party at Mooserwirt
Okay, when you are up for a good party – like most of the people staying in St.Anton – than you can’t miss out on Apréski at Mooserwirt. Situated right beside the slope and just a few hundred meters above St.Anton this giant party cabin becomes the hotspot for every ski, beer and Schlager music lover in the Alps – because the worst the music the better the party. At least I see it that way 🙂 The crowd is a colorful mixture of British, Swedes, Germans and ski instructors plus a few Austrians and it’s always great fun!

#4 eat at Balmalp
I personally think this is the closest thing to heaven you can find on this planet if you are a true (winter) sun seeker with a secret passion for pizza. The Balmalp is situated right on top of the ski resort Lech and is definitely a hotspot around lunch time. Crowded with people from all over the world in the middle of the Alps this panorama restaurant is as unique as it can be. Super friendly staff and the best pizza as well as the best view at the mountains make this my favorite place to eat at Arlberg. Plus it’s the perfect pitstop when skiing the Weißer Ring.
where? Lech am Arlberg (summit station Kriegerhorn-Bahn or summit station Zugerberg-Bahn)
#5 have coffee at Allerlei
As I told you in No.2 Zug is my favorite village at Arberg. It is the most romantic place in the whole region and has so much to offer. One of the highlights is definitely the café/bistro Allerlei. I always insist on having coffee there whenever we pass through on our skis. Beside the great coffee and delicious bits and bites it also has a little gift shop where you can buy specialities from the region but also from around the world – especially the chocolate is to die for!
where? Zug 525 – Lech am Arlberg
#6 shop at Jennewein
This place is a must for every winter sports lover. Whatever you need you’ll find it here – starting from the newest free ride skis and best snowboards on the market to the latest ski outfit trends. I always have to peek in when I’m around and find me shopping like my credit cards has got now limit (which it has, unfortunately). So if you are looking for a new outfit and/or gear – check it out!

#7 see the Show
When you are at Arlberg you have to see the “Schneetreiben” Show at least once. It takes place every Wednesday evening 9pm at the World Championship Stadion in St.Anton. All Ski Schools from Arlberg gonna show off what their teachers are able to and tell a lovely story about how skiing was born in the alps claiming that St.Anton is the cradle of alpine skiing (which I have to deny as a whole-blood Styrian girl 🙂 ). Anyway the show is alway a great spectacle and if you are with kids this is definitely great fun – but also for the older kids there is something in it: the party spreads all over St.Anton when the show is over!
where? WM-Stadion in St. Anton am Arlberg
If some of you gonna spent their Easter Holidays at Arlberg I hope you check out one or two spots on my list and tell me what you think about them ♡ For all others I hope you enjoyed the post and come back soon, because there will be a 7 things to do – post about Budapest up on the blog, which is more than long overdue as I visited Budapest before Christmas. But better late than never 🙂
